Bejmat is a natural terracotta brick.

"Bejmat" is the Arabic name given to this covering, applied to floors or walls, originating from centuries-old craftsmanship.

It is a specialty of the city of Fes, along with Zellige. It is traditionally crafted by a talented artisan using clay found near Fes, worked and cut by hand. The bricks undergo two firings in a brick oven at temperatures reaching up to 900°C. The manual artisanal work brings uniqueness to these bricks through their imperfections, which create a distinctive look.
